Full-fledged new installments have been absent for a long time.

In August 2026, fans of Dead Rising are celebrating the second decade of the franchise. The developers have not forgotten the milestone date either.

They published a congratulatory message on a social media platform alongside celebratory artwork:

Thanks to all of you who smashed psychopaths with all kinds of weapons and survived despite the hordes of zombies surrounding you, the series was able to celebrate its 20th anniversary! Keep on smashing zombies to your heart’s content!

In Dead Rising, main protagonist and freelance journalist Frank West finds himself in a town placed under quarantine by the US military. The action unfolds in a giant shopping mall, where Frank must survive by fighting off zombies with various tools and weapons until help arrives.

Capcom has not yet published a teaser for a new installment. Some fans have urged the developers to make a hypothetical Dead Rising 5.

The last new mainline game, Dead Rising 4, was released in 2017. The title received mixed reviews on Steam, holding a 56% rating. Gamers back then criticized both the story and the gameplay.

In 2024, Capcom successfully brought back the first installment in the form of Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster. The updated version of Frank West’s adventures received very positive reviews from players, achieving an 80% rating.
