At the Comic Con Igromir 2025 festival a new comics-industry award called “Canon” will be introduced. Winners across 13 categories will be chosen by field specialists, including comics writer Alex Hatchett and artists Valentin Potkin, Rénè Bartang, among others.
From December 12 to 14, 2025, Moscow’s Timiryazev Center will host Comic Con Igromir. As always, the event will feature the Authors’ Alley, where visitors can meet artists, writers and comic creators.
This year the festival’s comics program expands considerably: the Comic Con Igromir organizers, together with publisher BUBBLE, are launching a new professional comics award, “Canon”, which will be presented annually.
The prize is intended to honor the talents of individual creators and creative teams whose compelling stories captivate readers worldwide, stir strong emotions and leave audiences eagerly awaiting the next release.
The jury will recognize both emerging and seasoned professionals. A separate category will pay tribute to masters of the genre for their lasting contributions to the comics industry.
The award’s name is purposeful: “canon” denotes the official, creator-recognized version of events and characters. The prize will include 13 categories that span different areas of the industry:
- Best Writer, Best Artist, Best Colorist, Best Cover;
- Best Design/Layout, Best Comic Book, Best Comic Series;
- Best Western Comic Adaptation, Best Eastern Comic Adaptation;
- Best Webtoon, Best Children’s Comic, Best New Project, Contribution to the Industry.
Those invited to present the awards include “Script it” author Alex Hatchett, Synergy’s comics faculty lecturer Valentin Potkin, artist Rénè Bartang, BUBBLE editor-in-chief Roman Kotkov, Komilfo publisher founder Mikhail Bogdanov, and Chuk & Geek comic shop co-founder Ivan Chernyavsky.
