Borderlands 4 Creator Randy Pitchford Is a Big Fan of Factorio
Factorio draws a diverse array of players — even a well-known developer who performs magic.
Gearbox’s chief has been giving interviews and recently spoke with Shacknews. During the talk he was asked about his favorite game, and Randy Pitchford confessed that he’s been spending a lot of time lately playing the factory-building simulator Factorio:
I’ve been asked that before and I’ve given different answers over time. The video game that I feel set me on the road to becoming a game developer was Colossal Cave Adventure — I spent countless hours with it. It was text-based, and there’s something genuinely magical and singular about that experience. Much of what I’ve done since then has been an attempt to chase that feeling again or to recreate it for others. So that really matters to me. There was a period when DOOM and DOOM II were the biggest things in my life. If I look back — say, over the past five years — the title I’ve probably put the most hours into is Factorio. Oh man, I’m a huge Factorio fan. I love that game.
