Best-Selling Games in the U.S. in September Announced

Analysts at Circana report that Borderlands 4 was the top-selling title in the United States for September 2025. The study period spanned August 31 through October 4. The new installment from Take-Two Interactive secured the number-one spot, outperforming all of the season’s sports releases.

NBA 2K26 placed second and — bolstered by strong results over the last two months — became the best-selling game of 2025. Rounding out the top three was EA Sports FC 26, while Sony’s Ghost of Yotei and Madden NFL 26 came in fourth and fifth. With three of the five leading titles falling into the sports category, the genre’s sustained popularity is clear.

Ten of the top twenty games in September were new releases — among them Silent Hill f, Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles, and the Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2 collection.
