On November 26, 2025, Nintendo Switch Online expanded both its NES and Game Boy collections. The NES roster gains Battletoads and Ninja Gaiden II: The Dark Sword of Chaos — its first NES additions in nearly a year — while the Game Boy lineup adds Bionic Commando and Kid Icarus: Of Myths and Monsters.
Battletoads, originally released in 1991 by Rare, is remembered for its frantic cooperative brawling and notorious difficulty. The IP is currently owned by Xbox. Ninja Gaiden II: The Dark Sword of Chaos arrived on the NES in 1990 as the middle entry of the original trilogy and is likewise renowned for its demanding gameplay.
On the handheld side, the Game Boy port of Bionic Commando (1992) closely mirrors the NES original, and this release represents its first modern reissue. Kid Icarus: Of Myths and Monsters, published in 1991, is the Game Boy sequel to Kid Icarus and remained the series’ most recent handheld entry until Kid Icarus: Uprising arrived in 2012.
