Paul Thomas Anderson’s “Battle After Battle” has emerged as the most financially successful film of the director’s career. This week the blockbuster’s total box office take topped $100 million. Still, to recoup its production costs the film will need to reach roughly $300 million.
The re‑released “Crushing Machine” from Benny Safdie fell short of analysts’ forecasts, bringing in just $6 million domestically — against a reported $50 million budget.
The standout performer at the box office was the documentary Taylor Swift: The Official Release Party of a Showgirl, released to coincide with the singer’s new album; it earned $46 million.
