Avengers Doomsday Poster Highlights Latverian Witches Mystery

A new poster for Avengers: Doomsday was unveiled at Comic-Con Málaga on Oct. 3. The poster reveals nothing new about the film, but it spotlights three characters we still do not know much about. Right in time for Halloween, this poster raises questions about who the Latverian Witches really are.

Who could the Latverian Witches be in Avengers: Doomsday?

The new poster for Avengers: Doomsday shows Doctor Doom at the bottom of a grand staircase, presumably in Latveria. Behind him stand three witches, each wearing a different color. While people colloquially call these mysterious characters Latverian Witches, Marvel has otherwise revealed little about them.

These characters will seemingly help Doctor Doom execute his grand plan in Avengers: Doomsday, but it feels unlikely they are entirely new characters. Several existing figures would make sense in these roles.

Looking at the magical corner of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, several sensible candidates emerge. Doctor Strange, Clea, and Scarlet Witch seem like obvious fits, especially since their whereabouts remain unknown since Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Bruce Banner is another possibility because Doctor Doom kidnaps him at the end of Avengers: Endgame Encore. Sylvie from Loki also makes sense given her connections to the collapsing multiverse. It is possible, though less likely, that Agatha All Along characters such as Agatha Harkness, Jennifer Kale, or Death could show up as the Latverian Witches.

Marvel Studios is unlikely to reveal the true identities of the Latverian Witches before the movie comes out, leaving fans to speculate until Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters on December 18.
