Silent Hill 2 to be removed from PS Plus ahead of Halloween

Sony will remove Silent Hill 2 from the PS Plus catalog just days before Halloween, depriving subscribers of one of the best games for dark autumn evenings.

The October PlayStation Plus catalog update sparked a strong backlash online. Users have long complained about declining lineup quality, and they are now especially angry about the list of games leaving the service: Yakuza: Like a Dragon, Jurassic World Evolution 2, Gloomhaven: Mercenaries Edition, and Rogue Lords.

The main reason for dissatisfaction is the removal of the Silent Hill 2 remake. The game by Polish developer Bloober Team joined the subscription exactly one year ago and was considered an ideal choice for the autumn season. Sony is now removing it from the catalog just days before Halloween, at a time when interest in horror games is traditionally at its peak.

Players also noted the atmosphere, visual design, and story of trauma and guilt that made Silent Hill 2 one of the most notable psychological games of recent years.

As a reminder, Bloober Team is also working on a remake of Silent Hill 1, with a major presentation expected in 2027.
