Avalanche’s leadership announced in September that it will reassess the company’s organizational structure.
Avalanche Studios Group (best known for the Just Cause and Rage 2 franchises) has permanently closed its Liverpool office in the United Kingdom. The company posted the update on its official website nearly two months after first signalling the upcoming changes.
The shutdown resulted in 31 employees losing their jobs. This move is part of a wider wave of layoffs across the games industry, which has seen thousands of roles cut since early 2025.
The exceptional talent, passion and dedication of every team member have left a lasting imprint on our projects. We are profoundly grateful for their devotion and the invaluable contributions they’ve made to Avalanche Studios Group.
Our immediate focus is supporting colleagues through this transition and continuing to create outstanding games for our players.
Avalanche’s leadership indicated in September that it would review the company’s structure. The layoffs could also extend to the Stockholm and Malmö offices.
