Analysts Say Optimal Price for GTA 6 — $80 and $100 Aren’t the Best Options
Some gamers fear Rockstar Games may establish a new benchmark for the base edition’s price.
With Grand Theft Auto 6 pre-orders on the horizon, players are speculating about the price Rockstar will set. Many expect it could surpass the familiar $60–$70 range for a standard AAA release.
Analysts at MIDiA Research have also offered their pricing outlook for GTA 6. IGN reviewed MIDiA’s study and reported that it “rejected a $100 price for GTA 6.”
MIDiA’s model — which uses a Gabor–Granger pricing ladder and a survey of more than 2,000 U.S. consumers — indicates that a $70 price point would be the optimal choice to maximize revenue from sales.
A MIDiA representative said:
“Our research indicates GTA 6 will generate more revenue at a standard price of $69.99 than at the widely discussed $100 price point. Charging $100 would, in fact, reduce overall revenue.”
The data show that any additional revenue from buyers who would purchase GTA 6 at a price above the optimal ($70) would be outweighed by the lost income from those who would opt not to buy at the higher price.
