As the iconic franchise approaches its monumental 25th anniversary on October 12, Capcom has revealed an impressive new sales milestone for the Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy. However, despite the celebratory mood, the publisher remains tight-lipped regarding whether a brand-new installment is currently in active development.

In a recent announcement on Bluesky, Capcom confirmed that the Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy—which launched for contemporary hardware in 2019—has officially surpassed 5 million units sold. Financial records on Capcom’s investor relations portal indicate that the entire series has now crossed the 15 million copies threshold. To honor this sales achievement and kick off the quarter-century jubilee, the company also published gorgeous promotional artwork crafted by series veterans Kazuya Nuri and Takuro Fuse.

While these figures might pale in comparison to blockbusters like Monster Hunter: World or the Resident Evil 2 remake, achieving these milestones is a remarkable triumph for a historically niche collection of courtroom visual novels. The franchise boasts an exceptionally dedicated and vocal fanbase, which Capcom has continuously rewarded over the years by porting nearly every classic title to modern platforms.

Even so, the silence surrounding a genuinely new entry remains deafening. For international audiences, the most recent addition was 2021’s The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles, which was fundamentally a localized package of two historical prequels originally released in Japan during the mid-2010s. If we look strictly at modern mainline entries centering on iconic attorneys like Phoenix Wright, Apollo Justice, or Miles Edgeworth, players have been waiting since 2016’s Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Spirit of Justice on the Nintendo 3DS.

It has now been a full decade since Spirit of Justice debuted in North America. Hopefully, Capcom’s silver anniversary festivities will eventually evolve past commemorative artwork and sales recaps, giving eager fans a glimpse into the courtroom’s future.
