Microsoft shuttered The Initiative before its debut title could be completed.
Two senior members of the closed studio — Darrell Gallagher and Brian Horton — have announced the formation of a new studio operating under the 2K Games banner. They previously worked on the cancelled reboot of Perfect Dark for Xbox.
In a post on his profile on a professional networking site, former head of The Initiative Darrell Gallagher said he is joining 2K as senior vice president of the as-yet-unnamed studio.
Brian Horton, who served as creative director on The Initiative’s Perfect Dark and earlier led creative on Insomniac’s Marvel’s Spider-Man and Marvel’s Wolverine, has also joined the new team as head of creative.
No information about other hires or the studio’s project has been revealed so far. According to insiders, including Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier, Take-Two reportedly tried to rescue Perfect Dark, but negotiations ultimately fell through.
