Yevgeny Mironov to Play Goodwin in New “The Wizard of the Emerald City”
Central Partnership has revealed who will bring Goodwin to life in the fantasy blockbuster The Wizard of the Emerald City: The Great and Terrible. The role will go to Yevgeny Mironov.
I feel a real connection to this character, a gifted performer who knows how to find a way out of difficult situations and conjure illusions. I was also struck by the filmmakers’ approach. Every detail has been thought through, from the script to the sets and the look of the characters. That earns my respect, so I gladly agreed to play Goodwin,
Mironov said in a press release.
The film is based on Alexander Volkov’s fairy tale of the same name. In the story, a girl named Ellie and her friends meet the wizard Goodwin, who promises to grant their dearest wishes. In return, they must obtain the magical storm of the witch Bastinda for him.
The cast also includes Ekaterina Chervova, Yuri Kolokolnikov, Artur Vakha, Svetlana Khodchenkova, Maria Andreeva, Alexander Yatsenko and others. Igor Voloshin returns as director. The film is due for release on January 1, 2027.
The first installment, The Wizard of the Emerald City: The Yellow Brick Road, came out in 2025 and grossed 3.3 billion rubles in Russia. Mironov will soon appear in the series Arsenyev, produced by the Rossiya TV channel and the Okko streaming service.
