Penguin Showrunner to Make Poison Ivy Series
Lauren LeFranc, the creator of The Penguin, is in talks to join HBO’s new Poison Ivy project, which centers on one of Batman’s best-known adversaries. According to Deadline, LeFranc could also serve as a producer on the series.
Development stalled amid the Paramount and Warner Bros. deal, but work on the project may now resume. The story will not be part of Matt Reeves’ Batman universe starring Robert Pattinson. Whether the show will connect to James Gunn’s main DC Universe has not yet been revealed.
Poison Ivy is the alter ego of Dr. Pamela Isley, a botanist who can control plants and influence people through pheromones. In live-action, the character was played by Uma Thurman in Batman & Robin, while Peyton List and Bridget Regan portrayed her in Gotham and Batwoman, respectively.
