Xbox Launches Pre-Orders for New $899 25th Anniversary Hardware

Microsoft is celebrating the 25th anniversary of Xbox with a limited-edition commemorative console inspired by the original hardware. The Xbox Series X25 edition features a translucent OG Green design and individual laser-engraved numbering. Microsoft priced the special edition hardware at $899.99.

Select Xbox fans received early access to pre-orders through direct email invitations. General pre-orders open on Thursday, Aug. 27, at 7 a.m. PDT / 10 a.m. EDT, with orders limited to one per customer. The console officially launches on Nov. 13 as part of the Xbox 25th anniversary collection.

The console includes 1 TB of storage. The $899.99 price represents a $100 premium over the standard Xbox Series X, which now costs $799.99 after a recent price hike. Microsoft is packaging each unit with a full-game download of Halo: Campaign Evolved. The game retails on its own for $49.99 and is also available through Xbox Game Pass.

Xbox Wireless Controller X25 Special Edition

Fans looking for a lower-priced anniversary collectible can order the standalone Xbox Wireless Controller X25 Special Edition for $79.99. The accessory shares the same translucent green casing and features the classic Xbox logo alongside the original ABXY button color layout. In a nod to the original controller design, the left and right bumpers are molded in white and green plastic to honor the classic black and white face buttons.

The Xbox Wireless Controller X25 Special Edition launches on Oct. 20, ahead of the console release.
