Xbox head Sarah Bond has officially confirmed that Microsoft is working on the next generation of consoles. She made the announcement during an interview on Good Morning America, where Bond, alongside Carl Ledbetter, Xbox’s head of design, unveiled Building 87 — a confidential Redmond lab where the brand’s future hardware is developed.
While showcasing the new handheld Xbox ROG Ally, developed in collaboration with ASUS, Bond discussed the platform’s outlook: “This is where we conceive, prototype, and test the next generation of Xbox,” stressing that work on the console has been ongoing for some time.
Although technical specifications and a launch timeline were not disclosed, she noted that Microsoft’s internal teams are actively designing new models, reaffirming Xbox’s commitment to evolving its hardware beyond the current Series X|S generation. Building 87 is reputed to be a center for highly classified development, where designs, components, and features of Xbox devices are examined well before any official reveal.
