World of Warcraft: Forever to Implement Strict Bans for Gold Buying

Blizzard is significantly tightening its enforcement against gold buying in World of Warcraft: Forever, raising the prospect of permanent account bans.

During a Q&A session, Blizzard developers acknowledged that they were previously too lenient toward players who purchased gold through third-party services and that some penalties were easy to circumvent.

Honestly, we were probably too lenient with gold buyers, and some of our measures were too easy to bypass in the past. We take this very seriously and will deal very harshly with gold buyers.

Blizzard did not state that every player caught engaging in the violation will receive a permanent ban, but the developers warned of the possibility of “permanent loss” of an account. One developer, who owns a personal World of Warcraft account active for 22 years, noted that risking its loss is definitely not worth it.

As a result, purchasing gold in World of Warcraft: Forever can lead to much more severe consequences, up to and including a permanent account ban.
