It appears that development of naval combat content for Battlefield 6 is already in progress. This comes from an analysis of game files that uncovered lines pointing to new vehicle types.
The code contains references to several waterborne vehicles — jet skis and RHIB inflatable boats. Both entries are associated with multiplayer, which indicates that work on naval gameplay is underway. The files include:
Game/GlacierMP/Kits/Vehicle_Neutral_Boat_JetSki
Game/GlacierMP/Kits/Vehicle_Neutral_Boat_RHIB
The name Glacier is used as the codename for Battlefield 6, while MP denotes the multiplayer mode.
Developers previously said that players’ requests to bring back naval battles “have not gone unnoticed.” When such content will arrive remains unknown. Judging by the first season’s offerings — which include almost no water maps — it may be some time before we see it. Still, the franchise has released seasons dedicated to naval operations before, and Battlefield 6 could follow that path.
