‘Welcome to Zombieland 3’ Could Be Released in 2029

Ruben Fleischer, director of the Zombieland duology, said he plans to make the third installment in 2029.

“I hope we’ll shoot Zombieland 3 in 2029. We’ve already begun talks, because the first film was made in 2009 and the second in 2019, and we kind of left with ‘See you in ten years.’ So we’re working on it now — I hope it comes together. I also have a few urgent projects, so we’ll see which one takes precedence,” Fleischer told Deadline.

The Zombieland films follow a band of survivors navigating a zombie apocalypse. The franchise stars Woody Harrelson, Emma Stone, Jesse Eisenberg and Abigail Breslin, and the two films have earned a combined $227 million worldwide.

Fleischer also directed Now You See Me 3, which was released in Russia this week.
