Urfin Jus Movie Announced
A new fantasy film titled “Urfin Jus,” serving as a follow-up to “The Wizard of the Emerald City,” is currently in the works in Russia. This update was shared by the franchise’s producer, Petr Anurov.
“We intend to develop further films based on Alexander Volkov’s literary series. For the first time, I can reveal to TASS that we are actively drafting the script for ‘Urfin Jus,’ adapted from ‘Urfin Jus and His Wooden Soldiers.’ <…> We anticipate beginning production in the latter half of 2027,”
— Anurov stated during an interview with TASS.
The project will be helmed by director Dmitriy Kiselev, known for his work on “Black Lightning,” “Yolki,” and “Spacewalk.” The screenplay is being penned by Roman Kantor (“The Master and Margarita”) and Sergey Kozin (“Eterna”). A definitive release date has not yet been established.
In the “Wizard of the Emerald City” duology, the character of Urfin Jus is portrayed by Dmitriy Chebotarev. The first installment, “The Yellow Brick Road,” premiered in 2025 and grossed an impressive $3.3 billion. The sequel, “The Great and Terrible,” is scheduled for release on January 1, 2027.
