Fans are taking the franchise into their own hands.
Supporters of Risen, the series created by Piranha Bytes, have been eager to see a new entry in the franchise.
An independent developer using the handle Natsu has an idea: he is building an unofficial Risen sequel titled The Old Kingdom.
The RPGTemplate YouTube channel revealed a prototype of the game; development is happening in Unreal Engine:
The narrative transports players to the Old Continent, a land left nearly barren by war. Events unfold in a surviving region where deposits of rare anti-magic crystals—able to suppress the titans’ power—have been found. An expedition arrives there seeking a way to bring the rest of the continent back under control.
The Old Kingdom will be distributed free of charge. Natsu is currently looking for other modders to join and help develop the project.
