The Game Awards will air on Thursday, December 11, 2025, and a new teaser suggests Lara Croft will be part of a major reveal. The hint first appeared inside Fortnite before the franchise’s official X account amplified the news to a wider audience. Tombraider’s post directs viewers to tune in to The Game Awards on December 11 for a look at the series’ next chapter.
The promotional image shows a shadowed Lara Croft silhouette standing on a pedestal labeled “Announcement December 11,” a clear prompt for fans to watch the ceremony for more details.
While the teaser stops short of explicitly calling it a new game reveal, Crystal Dynamics has long confirmed a fresh Tomb Raider project. The studio announced in 2022 that it was building the next entry in Unreal Engine 5, and Amazon Games remains attached as the publisher. Despite Amazon’s substantial workforce reductions in October 2025, reports indicate the Tomb Raider project continued moving forward, and earlier rounds of staff cuts at Crystal Dynamics reportedly did not derail development. The most recent numbered entry remains 2018’s Shadow of the Tomb Raider. Since then, the franchise has seen remastered collections of the classic titles—Tomb Raider I–III Remastered in 2024 and a remaster of IV–VI earlier in 2025—keeping older adventures accessible to modern players. Coincidentally, Season 2 of Netflix’s animated series Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft is also scheduled to premiere on December 11, making that date especially busy for the franchise and its community.
