This is how optimization should work: Resident Evil Requiem is playable even with 2GB of VRAM
Resident Evil Requiem is earning widespread acclaim for its exceptional optimization, proving that even modest PC configurations can deliver a smooth experience.
A recent technical analysis from the RandomGaming YouTube channel reveals that the game maintains a stable 30–40 FPS at 1080p, even when running on an aging GeForce GTX 960 equipped with just 2GB of VRAM. This suggests that the actual hardware floor is significantly more accessible than the official Steam requirements, which recommend a card with at least 6GB of VRAM.
While native performance on minimum settings hovers around a sluggish 20–30 FPS, enabling AMD’s FidelityFX Super Resolution 3 (FSR 3) pushes the framerate into a much more playable 25–50 FPS range. This boost makes Capcom’s latest survival horror title surprisingly viable for users with legacy hardware.
This impressive technical showing marks a redemptive turn for Capcom following the optimization struggles seen during the launches of Dragon’s Dogma 2 and Monster Hunter Wilds. Fans are hopeful that this level of polish will serve as the publisher’s new gold standard for future releases.
