New Kingdom Hearts IV Details Include Papier-Mâché Mickey and Donald and Goofy Battles
An extended four-minute trailer for Kingdom Hearts IV has revealed fresh gameplay details, spotlighting playable sequences for King Mickey, Donald, and Goofy alongside a trip to the Land of the Dead.
King Mickey will be playable in select portions of the game. He uses his Keyblade to interact with environments that open up like a book. The footage also showcases a side-scrolling platforming section and a sequence where a giant papier-mâché Mickey smashes through obstacles.
Donald and Goofy also receive dedicated playable segments. Exploring the Underworld, the duo battles Heartless, slides down slopes streaming with magma, and unleashes a joint attack. The two travel to the Land of the Dead and appear to be separated from Sora, though he can still see their spirits.
What is happening with the Heartless in Quadratum and which other Keyblade wielders are assisting Sora remains unknown.
Kingdom Hearts IV is scheduled to release in late 2027 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2.
