The next Divinity will launch in early access like Baldur’s Gate 3

Following the 2025 Game Awards, Larian Studios enthusiasts are eager to know when they can dive into the next Divinity RPG. True to the studio’s heritage, the game will debut via Early Access.

In a recent interview, Larian founder Swen Vinke stated:

“We are firmly committed to the Early Access model. It is a cornerstone of our strategy, largely due to the invaluable role of community participation. This process was vital during the development of Divinity: Original Sin 1 and 2, and it was instrumental to the success of Baldur’s Gate 3.”

Vinke elaborated that the Early Access phase is a catalyst for refining the gaming experience:

“Games undergo profound improvements through Early Access. Involving players directly fosters a unique synergy that yields exceptional results—even if the process is occasionally humbling for the developers. Sometimes you just have to acknowledge that the community is right and we were mistaken.”

He further noted:

“While it demands significant extra effort, the end result is a vastly superior game, which remains our ultimate objective.”

The unprecedented success of Baldur’s Gate 3 validates this methodology; the acclaimed RPG spent three years in Early Access (from 2020 to 2023) before sweeping major industry awards.
