Trouble may be brewing beneath the waves. Whispers are circulating across the digital landscape suggesting that Patrick Star is set to depart SpongeBob SquarePants. It is important to clarify that these rumors concern the fictional starfish character himself, rather than the veteran actor Bill Fagerbakke, who has brilliantly voiced the beloved character for nearly three decades.

Claims began surfacing on platforms like Facebook, with outlets such as CoveredGeekly and Wasted reporting that Patrick Star is allegedly slated to make his final appearance in an upcoming episode. These posts have ignited a firestorm of speculation among fan communities and pop-culture pages alike.

While the origin of this narrative remains obscure, the chatter appears to have roots in older Reddit discussions dating back over a week. There is also a distinct, potentially related rumor regarding the possible cancellation of the spinoff series, The Patrick Star Show. Having debuted in 2021 and airing its fourth season in 2025, the lack of news regarding a fifth season may have fueled speculation that somehow mutated into the unfounded idea that the character would be written out of the flagship series entirely.

Furthermore, these claims seem entirely baseless given the status of Bill Fagerbakke. The 68-year-old actor remains in excellent spirits, recently appearing at a Mets game just days ago. As noted by Super Hero Hype, Fagerbakke reaffirmed his dedication to the role in a 2024 interview with Variety, stating clearly: “I’m doing this magnificent job until my voice box is laid out on an examination table somewhere.”

Until official confirmation arrives from Nickelodeon or Fagerbakke himself, it is best to view these reports with extreme skepticism. For now, the rumors appear about as authentic as Mr. Krabs’ accounting books.
