Game of Thrones Movie on Aegon’s Conquest Projected for Release in 2029
The creator of House of Cards and a director of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms are working on the first full-length feature film set in the universe of Westeros.
Warner Bros. has scheduled the premiere of Game of Thrones: Aegon’s Conquest for June 1, 2029. According to Deadline, Owen Harris, who directed episodes of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, will direct the film, while Beau Willimon—one of the writers of Andor and the creator of House of Cards—is writing the script.
The story will take place approximately 300 years before the events of the original series and will follow the conquest of Westeros by Aegon I Targaryen. At the time, the future king, along with his sister-wives Visenya and Rhaenys, used three dragons—Balerion, Vhagar, and Meraxes—to subdue most of the continent. Aegon conquered six kingdoms, founded the Targaryen dynasty, and forged the Iron Throne from the weapons of his defeated enemies.

The cast and production start dates have not yet been announced.
