God of War Laufey pre-orders trail only GTA VI in sales
Discussions regarding the protagonist change have not stopped the new God of War from drawing an audience.
Pre-orders for God of War Laufey opened in the PlayStation Store on September 29. According to data from the PS Store DB service, the game currently holds second place in pre-order rankings across 45 of the 50 regions where it is available, trailing only GTA 6.
Over the past couple of days, the game has also climbed in Asian charts, moving from fifth to fourth place in Japan and from 45th to third place in South Korea. Sony has not yet disclosed the exact number of pre-orders, but chart positions point to high interest in the game. Demand is highest for the expanded Digital Deluxe Edition priced at $79.99, which includes additional gear, in-game resources, a digital art book, and the soundtrack.

The main protagonist is Faye, Kratos’s wife and Atreus’s mother. Following her death, she awakens in the underworld of the gods and learns that her plans to protect her family are under threat. To help her loved ones, she must battle gods from various mythologies.
God of War Laufey will release exclusively on the PlayStation 5 on February 16, 2027.
