The project will replace Spider-Noir, which was canceled after its first season.

Sony Pictures Television and Amazon are close to launching a series based on the Clone Saga from Spider-Man comic books. According to Deadline, the main characters will be Ben Reilly and Kaine Parker, two clones of Peter Parker. The script is being written by Kelvin Yu, creator of the series American Born Chinese. Producers are expected to include Amy Pascal, Phil Lord, and Christopher Miller, who previously worked on Spider-Noir starring Nicolas Cage.

Plot details currently diverge even among Deadline’s sources. According to one version, Ben and Kaine discover they are clones and encounter other copies of Spider-Man. According to another version, their origins and personalities will be significantly altered for the adaptation.

Well-known insiders have also shared their own details. Daniel Richtman describes the project as a superhero detective story featuring two partners:

“This will be a buddy-cop style series with Ben Reilly and Kaine Parker, sort of like Lanterns. They discover they are clones, and that forms the basis of the plot.”

In turn, MyTimeToShineHello claims that Ben will appear as the Scarlet Spider. In the comic books, Reilly also wore this costume and later even replaced Peter Parker in the role of Spider-Man.

There are no official details about the project yet. Deadline requested comments from Sony and Amazon, but representatives from the companies declined.
