The Highly Anticipated Assassin’s Creed Remake Is Finally on Its Way

Ubisoft has officially broken its silence, confirming that the long-anticipated remake of Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag is indeed a reality. Now titled Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced, the project was formally acknowledged by the franchise’s head of content, though the studio stopped short of revealing specific technical details or a definitive roadmap.

In a comprehensive update titled “Assassin’s Creed: Into 2026,” content lead Jean Guesdon addressed the community’s mounting expectations. “Speculation around Assassin’s Creed is not new,” Guesdon remarked, playfully invoking the series’ famous maxim before adding, “some whispers have a little more wind in their sails. Keep your spyglass on the horizon.”

The announcement was accompanied by a striking piece of artwork featuring the legendary Welsh privateer Edward Kenway. The image, which shows Kenway surveying the seas from a ship’s rigging, includes a prominent watermark that confirms the Resynced branding.

The “Resynced” title first leaked in late 2023 when a listing briefly appeared on the PEGI ratings board website. Before being removed, the classification granted the game an 18 rating, citing graphic violence, coarse language, and the inclusion of in-game purchases.

The mention of microtransactions has sparked curiosity among the player base. While the original 2013 release steered clear of such features, modern entries like Assassin’s Creed: Shadows utilize “Helix Points” for cosmetic items. It remains to be seen if Resynced will follow this trend or if the rating refers to the integration of legacy expansions like the Freedom Cry DLC.

While fans await more concrete gameplay footage, the confirmation alone is a major milestone for one of the most beloved entries in the series. Until Resynced sets sail, players can still revisit the original seafaring adventure on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S through the backward compatibility of the PS4 and Xbox One versions.
