Second Teaser Released for Fool’s Night Anime
The anime adaptation of Kasumi Yasuda’s manga marks the first collaborative project between animation studios SHAFT and Sunrise.
Netflix has released a new trailer for the anime adaptation of Fool’s Night and confirmed that the series will premiere on the streaming service on November 26.
The story takes place in a distant future where thick clouds have blocked sunlight from reaching Earth for a century. Most plant life has perished, leaving humanity with a severe oxygen shortage. To survive, scientists develop transfloration, a process that implants seeds into dying people to transform their bodies into living flora.
The protagonist, Toshiro Kamiya, lives in poverty and struggles to pay for his mentally ill mother’s medical care. Desperate and without hope for a normal future, he volunteers for transfloration. Following the procedure, he acquires the ability to hear the voices of people who have already been turned into plants. This gift leads him to a position at a medical facility, where he helps families communicate with their transformed relatives.
SHAFT and Sunrise are co-producing the series. Atsushi Yukawa is making his directorial debut with the project. Jin Tanaka (Oshi no Ko) is overseeing series composition, Robert Sato is providing character designs, and Tatsuya Kato is composing the score.
