“That’s What Our Geralt Would Say”: The Witcher Showrunner Responds to Criticism of a Line from the Season 4 Trailer

Ahead of the fourth season premiere of The Witcher on Netflix, showrunner Lauren Hissrich addressed a line from the trailer that ignited intense discussion among fans.

After the official trailer was released, viewers focused on a line delivered by Liam Hemsworth in his debut as Geralt of Rivia. In the heat of battle the character shouts: «Let’s ****** move!» — a line that immediately drew sharp criticism across social media.

Many viewers complained that the White Wolf sounded “like a character from Call of Duty,” accusing the creators of losing the original’s spirit.

Showrunner Lauren Hissrich spoke about the audience reaction for the first time. In an interview with Radio Times she said the scale of the debate surprised her and stressed that she did not find the line inappropriate.

“In the context of the fight, that line makes complete sense. It’s a strong moment and I think it sounds cool. Some might say, ‘That’s not what my Geralt would say.’ But it’s exactly what our Geralt would say. The line fits the scene perfectly, so I’m looking forward to viewers seeing it in context. I believe it works quite well.”

Whether the line succeeds in context will be revealed very soon. The fourth season of The Witcher premieres today, October 30, 2025, and will soon be available to watch at home.
