Taylor Swift Says Marriage Won’t Halt Her Music — “I’ll Keep Making Art”

Taylor Swift made it clear that marriage will not silence her artistic voice. In a conversation posted October 6 on BBC Radio 2’s The Scott Mills Breakfast Show, the pop songwriter dismissed suggestions that she would stop releasing albums after marrying Travis Kelce.
When host Scott Mills noted that some fans were worrying the newly released The Life of a Showgirl might be her final record, Swift laughed and shot back, “That’s a shockingly offensive thing to say.” She reiterated that marriage isn’t a reason to abandon a career one loves.
“That’s not why people get married — so they can quit their job,” she added, explaining that she and Kelce support each other’s passions. Swift said the couple’s mutual enthusiasm for their work is one of the strengths of their relationship, and she doesn’t expect him to ever resent her continuing to make music.
The interview arrives three days after the 14-time Grammy winner released her 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl (released October 3, 2025). Swift and Kelce revealed their engagement on Instagram a little more than a month earlier; the caption read, “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.”
Although she now faces wedding planning, Swift said her immediate focus remains promoting Showgirl. She’s already joking about potential reception entertainment — naming longtime friend and collaborator Ed Sheeran as a likely performer.
“It would be hard to keep him from it,” Swift told the U.K.’s Hits Radio Breakfast Show on October 3. She noted that both she and Sheeran love performing and giving audiences what they want, so a stage at the reception would be irresistible.
