Subtitle “Sonic 4 in Theaters” Hints at Time Travel — Insider
The next Sonic the Hedgehog movie may draw on the classic 1993 game.
Rumors are circulating about the title of the fourth Sonic feature. Insider Daniel Richtman suggests the film could be called Sonic CD — a nod to the 1993 title Sonic the Hedgehog CD, which first introduced time travel to the series.
That would be a logical direction, since the post-credits scene in Sonic the Hedgehog 3 introduced Amy Rose and Metal Sonic — characters who originally appeared in Sonic CD.
Richtman also claims the new installment will involve a “dark future,” though no further details have been revealed. Paramount Pictures has not officially confirmed the title or plot, so these reports should be treated cautiously until an official announcement is made.
The fourth Sonic film is currently scheduled to premiere on March 19, 2027.
