Stronghold 4 Developers Show Skirmish Mode
Developers are preparing for the upcoming release of a new RTS.
Firefly Studios participated in the PC Gaming Show Tokyo Direct 2026. The developers of Stronghold 4 showcased a new trailer featuring gameplay footage.
This time, the focus was on the game’s Skirmish mode (player versus AI). The creators also showed eight lords and announced that the game will feature 14 epic battlefields.
Chronologically, Stronghold 4 will serve as a prequel. The developers are returning the franchise to its roots, with events unfolding in medieval England:
Experience the story of Penryn of Wethel, a humble shepherd whose life is upended overnight, forcing him through grueling trials to become a leader. Embark toward Penryn’s destiny alongside new and familiar characters. Unlock the potential of a modest peasant and lead his army to glory, and Penryn himself to a knighthood. The voice cast includes Ben Starr, Samantha Béart, Wales Hammond, and Harry McIntyre.

You can add Stronghold 4 to your Steam wishlist via the following link. The developers have not yet specified a concrete release date, but plan to launch the game in early access before the end of 2026. Firefly Studios expects the game to remain in that status for about six months, though the timeline may change.
