Strictly Limited to Release Mr. Nutz and Mr. Nutz: Hoppin’ Mad Cartridges for SNES, Sega Genesis, and Mega Drive
Strictly Limited and Atari have partnered to bring physical cartridge re-releases of classic platformers Mr. Nutz and Mr. Nutz: Hoppin’ Mad to SNES, SEGA Genesis, and SEGA Mega Drive consoles in 2027.

Mr. Nutz originally launched on the SNES in 1993 before arriving on the SEGA Mega Drive in 1994. The side-scroller follows a red squirrel across forests, castles, and caves to stop the villainous Mr. Blizzard from freezing the planet.

Strictly Limited notes that the re-release features responsive controls, colorful visuals, extensive level exploration, and numerous hidden secrets.

Alongside the original, the publisher is releasing Mr. Nutz: Hoppin’ Mad, a long-lost sequel initially built for the Amiga and previously planned for the Mega Drive under the title Mr. Nutz 2. The sequel pits the protagonist against an invasion of mischievous alien chickens across sprawling levels connected by an open map.

Pre-orders are open now, priced at €49.99 per title. Shipping and the official release of the SNES, Genesis, and Mega Drive cartridges are scheduled for the first quarter of 2027.
