Stranger Things to Get a Prequel
Netflix has ordered Other Worlds, a new prequel series to “Stranger Things” set in the 1950s.
The show will feature a new cast and storyline, unfolding in the town of Marion, Nevada. Matt and Ross Duffer are creating the series alongside longtime “Stranger Things” writer Kate Trefry and director Joe Wright (“Atonement”), who will helm the first three episodes.
We’ve dreamed about “Other Worlds” for years, and seeing it finally become a reality feels both surreal and exhilarating. […] It’s still “Stranger Things,” but it’s also something excitingly new, with a new setting, new heroes, new villains, and new… actually, we can’t say anything else. Casting starts now. In the meantime, keep watching the skies, nerds!
— the Duffer brothers told fans in an official statement.
“Stranger Things” premiered on Netflix in 2016 and ran for five seasons. The franchise also includes the animated series “Tales From ’85” and the London stage production “The First Shadow.”
“Other Worlds” is set to premiere on Netflix in 2028.
