Yakuza Kiwami is coming to PC. We knew that much already, but the release date has remained elusive. A new set of updates on Steam’s backend over the past few days suggest that a release is coming sooner rather than later, meaning we’ll finally have the chance to experience the joys of ‘Majima everywhere’ here on PC.
The package updates start a handful of days ago, and the latest update on the backend launched earlier today. It looks like Steam keys are being generated ahead of launch, and the months-long promise on the store page that the game is ‘coming soon’ grows more likely by the minute.

Yakuza Kiwami is a full-on remake of the first game in the series, originally released on the PlayStation 2. It’s been rebuilt in the Yakuza 0 engine for smoother gameplay, improved visuals, and more robust side stories. (It’s also the only way you can play the game in english without the mostly terrible dub from the original.) For the PC version, you can 4K resolutions and uncapped frame rates to the list.
If you still haven’t dug into the Yakuza series, Yakuza 0 is already on PC and is perhaps the best place to start, especially since it’s currently just $13.39 / £10.04 / €13.39 on Steam. Despite being a remake of an older title, Kiwami is essentially a somewhat weaker follow-up to 0. But it does have fan-favourite character Goro Majima popping out of trash cans and traffic cones, and that counts for a lot.
