What is the Poe Dameron Omnibus about?

The Poe Dameron Omnibus gathers the canon missions of the Resistance pilot first introduced in 2015’s The Force Awakens and played on screen by Oscar Isaac. Poe followed his parents into aviation as a New Republic pilot before General Leia Organa recruited him to lead Black Squadron on covert assignments.

While the sequel films briefly referenced Poe’s past drug smuggling in The Rise of Skywalker, the comics instead explore his earlier life, his bond with the astromech droid BB-8, and his camaraderie with Black Squadron wingmates like Jessika Pava and Snap Wexley. The storylines depict the squadron navigating operations before, during, and after the events of The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi.

Writer Charles Soule and artists Phil Noto and Angel Unzueta handled the main 31-issue Poe Dameron series. The title launched on April 6, 2016, and wrapped on September 26, 2018. Alongside Black Squadron’s dogfights, the narrative traces the broader war against the First Order and features guest appearances from familiar figures such as Rey, Finn, Leia Organa, and Chewbacca as the timeline progresses past the events of the feature movies.

Poe Dameron Annual #1–2 comes from writer Robbie Thompson and artist Nicole Virella. Running between June 27, 2017, and August 29, 2018, the two-part story finds Poe and BB-8 stranded in First Order territory after the pilot defies orders from Leia.

The collection also includes Poe Dameron 1: SaBBotage, a short backup comic written by Chris Eliopoulos and Jordie Bellaire that originally appeared in the debut issue of the main series and in Droids Unplugged.
