Square Enix Severs Ties with Sony — Future Games to Launch Simultaneously Worldwide
Square Enix has officially announced that its forthcoming projects will be released simultaneously across all platforms — PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Switch 2.
Until now the company followed a different approach: many high-profile releases, such as Final Fantasy XVI and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, remained PlayStation exclusives for long periods. The publisher is now changing course.
This decision makes it clear that Square Enix no longer intends to be associated exclusively with the Sony brand. The goal of the new strategy is to expand audience reach, increase revenue, and ensure its games are available on every platform.
It was also confirmed that the third chapter of Final Fantasy VII Remake will launch simultaneously on Xbox and Switch 2, with no delays.
The company is entering a new era — more open, genuinely multi-platform, and more focused on players than ever before.
