Splitgate 2 Rebooted as Splitgate: Arena Reloaded — Launching This Month

Splitgate has been reworked and relaunched as Splitgate: Arena Reloaded.

Splitgate 2 encountered significant backlash following its June release: many players criticized the sequel’s design choices, and the studio suffered additional PR fallout after 1047 Games co‑founder Ian Prolux drew controversy during a Summer Game Fest presentation. In response to the negative reception, 1047 Games pulled the title back into beta in July to rebuild core systems and rethink the experience.

<p>Now reborn as Splitgate: Arena Reloaded, the free‑to‑play shooter is scheduled to relaunch on December 17, 2025. The studio bills this edition as a return to the franchise’s arena‑shooter roots, stripping away faction mechanics and ability systems introduced in the Splitgate 2 iteration and replacing them with a streamlined, arena‑focused progression and gameplay loop.</p>

<p>"Splitgate has always been our homage to the arena shooters that inspired us," said Josh Watson, design director at 1047 Games. "We rebuilt the game from the ground up, keeping what worked, removing what didn't, and refining the rest."</p>

<p>The Reloaded update introduces several tangible changes: five brand‑new maps plus six revamped levels from earlier versions, three new primary weapons and a new power weapon — the Railgun — and a set of Arena‑oriented modes. Players can expect classic arena rules, playlist selection, and an "even starts" option that removes customizable loadouts for a more balanced, competitive match structure. 1047 also promises a simplified battle pass, refreshed cosmetics, and reduced store prices.</p>

<p>Splitgate: Arena Reloaded will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.</p>
