Spiritual Successor to Burnout Released — First Wreckreation Console Gameplay Surfaces
The creators at Three Fields Studio have never hidden that Burnout was a major inspiration. Some members of the team previously worked on that arcade racing series.
Wreckreation conveys the same frantic spirit of destruction while introducing construction mechanics. The game features a “creative sandbox” where, across a vast 400 km² map, you can freely place ramps, obstacles, and other structures to craft your own tracks and challenges.
The project has received moderately positive critical response: its OpenCritic average stands at 7/10, though reviews are still limited. Cgmagazine awarded it an 8.5/10 and called the game “essential for anyone who missed the old Burnout.”
Below are the first gameplay clips from the console versions: one showcases the Xbox Series X, the other the PS5.
