Age of the Ring 10.0 Mod for The Battle for Middle-earth II Released With New Campaign and Maps
Age of the Ring 10.0 Adds a New Campaign and Maps to The Battle for Middle-earth II Mod
The Age of the Ring Development Team recently announced the release of its largest update to Age of the Ring, a mod for the real-time strategy game The Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle-earth II: The Rise of the Witch-king.
Version 10.0 introduces the Return of the King campaign, with 14 new missions described as an “epic conclusion” to the mod’s campaign.
The update also adds two alternative factions, Dead of Dunharrow and Sharkey’s Boys, along with several new maps. Dozens of units have received new voiceovers and models.
Age of the Ring is available for free through ModDB. The game itself has not been officially sold for a long time, but projects such as Age of the Ring show that interest in the strategy game remains and that fans are still willing to create new content for it.
Some players would like to see The Battle for Middle-earth II re-released with official support for user-made mods.
