Sony Continues Fight Against Hackers Ahead of Grand Theft Auto VI Release
Sony has released PlayStation 5 system software update 14.22.00, which includes system security fixes, according to the official description. The update arrives a month after version 14.10.00.
The release comes amid notable progress in the console hacking community. Over the past several weeks, researchers and enthusiasts have made new advances in bypassing the security of modern gaming systems, aided in part by developments in artificial intelligence models. Sony must therefore quickly address discovered vulnerabilities to prevent the spread of piracy.

Sony also has another reason to strengthen PS5 security now: the approaching release of Grand Theft Auto VI, scheduled for November 19. According to PlayStation Game Size, an account that tracks changes to the PlayStation Network database, Rockstar Games’ new title will now require system software version 14.22.00 to run, rather than the previously required version 14.10.00.
