Sony Unveils New Footage from Zach Cregger’s Resident Evil Film
Sony has unveiled a collection of new images from the upcoming Resident Evil film, the latest cinematic take on the iconic video game series helmed by Barbarian director Zach Cregger.
These latest stills provide a glimpse at the film’s characters and atmospheric settings, though the plot remains shrouded in mystery. Rather than offering a direct adaptation of a specific title, Cregger and screenwriter Shane McKenzie are crafting an original narrative set within the expansive Resident Evil universe.
Austin Abrams has been tapped to lead the ensemble cast.
This project marks Sony’s latest effort to revitalize the long-running franchise following several previous adaptations that strayed from the source material. The original series starring Milla Jovovich concluded in 2016, and the 2021 reboot, Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City, met with mixed reactions. This new installment is slated for a theatrical release on September 18.
