Sony Reportedly Plans Cashback Program to Ease Transition to Digital PlayStation Consoles

The PS Store is giving players funds that can then be spent in the PS Store.

Sony appears to have started testing a new refund system for digital purchases on the PS Store. Some PS5 owners have received the ability to get a portion of their spent money back into their PlayStation wallet, although it remains unknown how large-scale this experiment will become.

A Reddit user noticed a special Wallet Credit tag on select games. According to PlayStation Lifestyle and Push Square, the system is not working for all users yet and, judging by available reports, is only available in the United States.

One of the games participating in the test is The Blood of Dawnwalker. The user reported that after purchasing it, they received $10 back in their PS Store wallet.

Aside from The Blood of Dawnwalker, user reports indicate Wallet Credit support for several other games: Halloween, Star Wars Zero Company, Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 2, and Hot Wheels: Infinite Rush.

An additional hint pointing to the preparation of such a system is the appearance of an application called Wallet Credit on the US PS Store. It is currently unavailable for download, but its very presence may indicate that Sony is indeed experimenting with a separate mechanism for managing these bonuses.
