Silent Hill: Townfall Reportedly Faces Performance Issues on PS5 Pro
Silent Hill: Townfall struggles with performance issues even on Sony’s high-end console. During heavy scenes, the frame rate on the PS5 Pro drops to about 42 FPS.
Silent Hill: Townfall fails to maintain a stable 60 FPS even on the PS5 Pro. In the most demanding scenes, the frame rate on Sony’s powerful console drops to approximately 42 FPS.
On the base PS5, the game offers two modes. Quality mode runs at 30 FPS with an internal resolution of around 1440p reconstructed to 4K via TSR, while performance mode targets 60 FPS at a resolution of around 1080p with the same reconstruction.
The PS5 Pro uses PSSR instead of TSR, and its extra performance allows for improved textures and shadows in both modes. The difference is also noticeable in reflections and global illumination. In performance mode, some post-processing effects, including the characteristic Silent Hill fog, are scaled back.
Performance remains the main issue, as neither the PS5 nor the PS5 Pro delivers a stable frame rate. The most demanding moments pull the figure down to roughly 42 FPS even on the PS5 Pro. Smoothness issues also appear on PC, which may point to broader optimization problems with the game.
