According to Variety, the seventh chapter of the horror franchise, titled Sharknado Origins, is currently in development and is slated for release in summer 2026.
The film will chronicle the birth of the aquatic tornado that scattered sharks across Los Angeles and other cities around the globe. Anthony Ferrante is set to return as director. The cast will be revealed at a later date.
Sharknado was produced for television and debuted in 2013, receiving generally favorable reviews (77% on Rotten Tomatoes). The franchise has since built a loyal fanbase. The most recent Sharknado instalment was released in 2018.
