Sekiro: Undefeated Anime Creators Feature Owl in New Character Trailer
Kadokawa has released a new character preview for the upcoming anime adaptation of Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, titled Sekiro: Undefeated.
The video, published on the KADOKAWAanime YouTube channel, is the seventh character trailer for the project and focuses on the Owl, the adoptive father and mentor of Wolf.
The Owl discovered the orphaned boy on a battlefield, named him Wolf, and raised him as a shinobi. He taught his student the Iron Code, which places the father above the son and the master above one’s own life, before ordering him to protect the Divine Heir Kuro. At the start of Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, the Owl is presumed dead following an attack on the Hirata Estate, but his fate and true motives later become central to the plot.
Voice actor Takaya Hashi reprises his role from the FromSoftware game. Kadokawa previously released character trailers for Wolf, Kuro, Genichiro Ashina, Emma, the Sculptor, and Hanbei the Undying.
Studio Qzil.la is producing the adaptation. Kenichi Kutsuna directs the project, Takuya Sato wrote the screenplay, and Takashi Mukoda is in charge of action choreography.
Sekiro: Undefeated will premiere in Japanese theaters on September 4, 2026, for a three-week run. The anime will stream globally on Crunchyroll in most regions, though the digital premiere date has not been announced yet.
