Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice Anime Creators Release Genichiro Ashina Character Trailer

Kadokawa is continuing to introduce the characters of the upcoming Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice adaptation.

A new trailer for the anime titled Sekiro: No Defeat has been released on the official KADOKAWAanime YouTube channel. The video focuses on Genichiro Ashina, the grandson of Isshin Ashina and one of the main opponents of the Wolf in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.

Preparing for the inevitable invasion by the Ministry of Interior, Genichiro tries to take Kuro’s Divine Heritage and gain the power capable of saving his homeland. To protect the lands of Ashina, the warrior is ready to resort to forbidden practices and sacrifice his own humanity.

Genichiro is voiced by Kenjiro Tsuda, who is returning to his role from the original game. Previously, personal trailers were released for the shinobi Wolf and his master Kuro, the Divine Heir. They are again voiced by Daisuke Namikawa and Miyuki Sato, respectively.

Sekiro: No Defeat adapts the story of the action-adventure game Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice from FromSoftware. Studio Qzil.la is handling the animation, and Kenichi Kutsuna is directing. Takuya Sato wrote the screenplay, Takahiro Kishida is designing the characters, and Takashi Mukoda is directing the action sequences.

The Japanese theatrical run starts on September 4 and will last for three weeks. The anime will later appear on Crunchyroll in most countries around the world, though the exact digital release date is currently unknown.
